FANS SAVING IN THE CANARY ACCOUNT HAVE NOW RAISED OVER £2.9M FOR THE CLUB

Norwich City Football Club is celebrating after it was revealed that fans saving in Norwich and Peterborough Building Society’s Canary Account have now netted more than £2.9m for the club since the initiative was launched 12 years ago.

Not only can supporters earn interest for themselves, and a bonus for Norwich City Football Club, but also in 2009 any supporter saving money in their Canary Account will be automatically entered into a hat trick of prize draws including the chance to win £2,010 in 2010!

Throughout 2009, three Canary Account holders every month will be randomly selected to win one of the following prizes - an NCFC match day experience, £100 credited to their Canary Account or a signed Norwich City football.

There is also one big cash prize - if you are a Canary Account holder or you open an account during 2009, you will be automatically placed into a prize draw at the end of this year to start 2010 with an extra £2,010 deposited into your Canary Account.

N&P’s Retail Sales and Service Manager, Sarah Birmingham, said: “I am delighted to have presented the club with this year’s annual payment. It is brilliant that fans are continuing to save for Norwich City considering that, in the current tough financial climate, saving money is not always possible for some people. It is a credit to the fans that we have now presented the Club with over £2.9m since the account was launched."£2.9m for Canaries

Norwich City’s Chief Executive, Neil Doncaster, said: “To once again receive such a significant amount from supporters saving in the Canary Account is a fantastic achievement.

“We are very grateful to all supporters who have saved within the account for many years and also for the wonderful way Norwich and Peterborough Building Society staff throughout the county have got behind it.”

Supporters can sign up for a Canary Account by visiting their nearest Norwich and Peterborough branch or by logging on to www.npbs.co.uk/canaries to sign up for an online savings account.

SOCIETY BRINGS UNIFORM TO CHARITY

There will be no stopping the volunteers from local charity “Norwich Door to Door”, now that they have new uniforms – thanks to Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P).

A customer approached Rachel Stimpson, a customer service manager at N&P’s Castle Mall branch, and suggested that Norwich Door to Door would be a great charity to support.  Rachel contacted Jill Gaul, project director at the charity, to offer a donation.  Jill was thrilled by the offer and suggested that some uniforms for the volunteers would be much appreciated.  Rachel teamed up with Chapelfield, Plumstead Road and Unthank Road branches to donate 28 sweatshirts and polo shirts.

Norwich Door to Door is based at the Norwich Community Hospital on Bowthorpe Road. The primary aim of the charity is to enable social inclusion for the 600 disabled children/adults and older mobility-impaired passengers who are registered for its services.

Norwich Door to DoorJill said: “We are so grateful that the local N&P branches all offered to make a joint donation of the uniforms; a strong visual identity is very important to us. We want our driving teams to look smart and be easily recognised. Our passengers are reassured when we call to collect them; they always see the uniform before the identity card, particularly when they are visually-impaired - many thanks to Rachel and the other Norwich branches for their support.”

If you are involved in a non-profit making organisation and are looking for support, contact one of your local N&P branches to see if we can help.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P) offers an award-winning commercial mortgage service to both trading businesses and property investors that are based in the UK.

Over 20 years ago the Society set up a specialist team to deal with commercial mortgage enquiries, and now we have over 2,000 commercial mortgage customers.

As well as being very experienced we are also extremely innovative – N&P is the one of only a handful of lenders which has Basel II waiver for mortgages, which provides us with the ability to price individual loans according to their risk. In practical terms, we allocate capital to each application; the better the risk profile, the less capital is required which lowers the cost and therefore the price the borrower has to pay.

At N&P, we feel that this is both appropriate and professional particularly in the current climate. The really good news is that each customer obtains a rate for risk, and the better the risk the lower the price.

Our service delivery and innovation has recently been recognised by the industry. At the Business Moneyfacts 2009 Awards, held in March, N&P were awarded “Best Service from a Commercial Mortgage Provider” and commended for “Innovation in the SME finance sector.”

With all the financial turbulence that surrounds the industry, we are pleased to say that Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P) continues to trade successfully. We continue to have a strong appetite for prime, good quality commercial lending. We are open for business to help customers in the same way as we have over the last 20 years.

We offer more than commercial lending products and service; we also have a very active treasury department. We are winning new business in this area and are able to provide competitive rates for money market deposits.
