Marsh wins Corporate Responsibility accolade in British Insurance Awards

Marsh’s UK Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme has won the ‘CSR Programme of the Year’ Award in this year’s British Insurance Awards. Marsh received the award for the restructuring of its CSR activities to develop a measurable programme which clearly engaged with employees and communities throughout the UK.

Nick Jones, Head of Communications & Marketing at MarshMarsh's ‘Helping People and Communities at Risk' programme comprises charitable, employee volunteering, matched giving and sustainability activities in the UK, as well as major support for parent company Marsh & McLennan Companies' ‘Charity of the Year'.

Commenting on winning the award, Nick Jones, Head of Communications and Marketing at Marsh for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “Marsh is delighted to have won the CSR Programme of the Year award. This is testament to the commitment both the company and our colleagues make in supporting the communities in which we operate across the UK.

“In addition to our multi-year partnerships with a cross-section of UK charities to fund specific projects which otherwise might not take place, our colleagues have been superb in raising funds for our Charity of the Year, CLIC Sargent. This support is complemented by our popular Marsh MAGIC matched giving programme, which rewards colleagues for helping their local charities and communities. We will build on the success of these activities, while boosting our focus on our sustainability policies and programmes.”

Now in their 16th year, the British Insurance Awards showcase top class performance and innovation, reward achievement and raise standards in the UK insurance industry. Entries are judged by market experts and practitioners, analysts, consultants, industry commentators and political and trade union representatives.

Martin South named ‘Insurance Broking CEO of the Year’

Martin South, CEO of Marsh UK, was named the ‘Insurance Broking CEO of the Year’ in Reactions Magazine’s London Market Awards 2010, announced at a gala dinner at London’s City Grange Hotel. Mr South received the award in recognition of his leadership in transforming Marsh UK, including the successful acquisition of HSBC Insurance Brokers.

Mr South said: “This award belongs to all my colleagues in Marsh UK. Our business has undergone a significant period of transition, resulting in greatly improved profitability and revenue growth. Our acquisition of HSBC Insurance Brokers earlier this year is further testament to our determination to serve our clients with the very best products and solutions tailored to their particular needs.

“Our focus on helping our clients succeed and recover from the effects of the recession has never wavered. This award recognises the dedication of every Marsh UK colleague and I would like to thank the judges at Reactions for this honour.”
